We have love in the new home for 6 years now and attached are some pictures around the place to show how my landscaping efforts have progressed. Obviously, the shrubbery has grown and the lawn is still as green thanks to fertilizer and water. We had originally planed to put a pond in this area but considered the geese and mosquitoes that come with the standing water. From the suggestion of a friend, we put in a “dry” pond with ornamental grasses for bird cover. I feed about three gallons of birdseed a week during the hardest part of the winter. The steep banks were my biggest concern as the soil in this part of the country erodes easily. We plant two flowerbeds of Cosmos every year from which I harvest the seed for the next year. This year, so far, I’ve collected two gallons of seed. The front corner of our lawn is very colorful in the fall. Two acres is a lot to mow in the spring but fortunately, most of the lawn goes dormant when I want to be fishing.
